Absolutely LOVE it. The art style stays the same but the environments now pop-out just enough to make them more engaging. The new camera angles will make is challenging when entering rooms.
Seems pretty amazing, I honestly just want melee combat in synthetik tho lmao
I have mixed feelings about it. I'm a pretty big fan of 2d stuff and am usually off put by more rounded and smoother models. In S1 the edgier polygons fits the grittiness of the game. Kind of similar to how Diablo 2's art style fits the game perfectly. That being said, if the game makes sense and the visual effects feel right with the updated look, then I'm all for it. Just going to have to wait and see how it feels.
Only thing to potentially be worried about is modeling stuff might take more time because it's now more 3d? I don't know much about art or implementation but something nice about traditional RL's is it's much simpler to add stuff to a turn based game with no graphics.
The visual design looks a lot better. The gunplay looks a lot like the first game, which i very much appreciate. The new camera angle will also be interesting. I must say i am quite excited for synth 2
Not sure if i like the 3D aspect that much. Understandably it has to be to achieve that visual depth, but, well, it will all come down to the gameplay. And gunplay.
Reminds me of Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop the way the pre-alpha trailer looks, it particularly reminds me of a campaign level in ASRD where you have to traverse some catwalks to blow up a pipeline that the aliens are using for transport.
Yeah, that's precisely what I thought as well! I do think it could use some texture polishing to make it look better and a bit more of a diverse color palette to make things stand out more, as there's a bit too much of the same colors all around in the previews that have been released. I think it definitely could use more contrast like the first game has to make things "pop", but it's a decent start.
I'm really excited. I delved into Synthetik after sseth made his video so by no means am I a veteran, but I think the 2.5D design is an interesting choice. It reminds me of the 3D transition from RoR1 to RoR2, and I think if done right it could be just as successful if not more so. I can't wait to see more!
I love the art style! Sythetik has made its transition into true 3d exceptionally well. One thing I will say, that I have always liked about S1 is how well the isometric perspective translates into gameplay. Hitboxes are fairly well defined despite taking place in a 2.5D space. If we move to 3D I hope the gunplay feels as precise and responsive.
Looks interesting, though I wonder how mechanics like headshots are going to work...
I am harder than Titanium alloy right now
